(This is only one of two episodes of Overdrive in which Ryoko would appear on. This one was planned. It is during her time when she was touring the US right near the end of her journey.)
Scarlet: Hello everyone and welcome too Overdrive. I'm Scarlet.
Sophie: I'm Sophie.
Scarlet: Today we are going too enter the world of budget racing-
Sophie: So you mean cheap racing?
Scarlet: Yep. Taking something cheap modifiying it too race.... on a budget.
Sophie: So we will be driving pieces of crap?
Scarlet: No.
Sophie: Rust buckets?
Scarlet: Seriously? Your not looking forward too this?
Sophie: Not really...
Scarlet: Well maybe this will cheer you up. We will have a third person going us. Please everyone give a warm welcome too...… Ryoko Kenichi!!!!!
The live studio audience erupts in cheers and applause as Ryoko enters the studio and walks too Scarlet and Sophie. She shares a hug with Scarlet and then Sophie shares an old school salute which Ryoko returns before they share a hug as well.
Sophie: As much I am happy too see Ryoko here with us. I'm still not looking forward too this.
Scarlet: You are such a downer.
Ryoko: What is our budget?
Scarlet: 3000$ with a wiggle room for up 5000$ for safety reasons.
Sophie: Where we racing?
Scarlet: Britain at the Lyyden Circuit.
Ryoko: Rallycross?
Scarlet: Yes.
*While Sophie doesn't say anything. The look on her face is one of intrigue.*
Ryoko: Time too scratch the itch.
The show then Segway's too Britain. With cars buzzing around the track. Before each car that is bought and shown each driver has a bit of a confession too make.
Ry: I must be honest viewers, I've never done Rallycross before. I've driven off-road but nothing like this.
Sophie: I've driven a Rally car before but that was just a test with a amateur team. And it was only once.
Scarlet: I've never been on dirt, never driven Rallycross or even dared the thought at all.
Ryoko is the first person too pull up with her rallycross car.
Ry: This is a 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. 5 speed manual, 4WD and 390HP. Rally legend still flying around dirt and tarmac at this day and age.
Scarlet is the next too turn up.
Scarlet: 2002 Peugeot 306. 2L 16V 190HP. 6 speed manual.
Ry: Not bad.
Scarlet: Thank you. And you have a rally legend.
Ry: Indeed.
While they talk about their cars Sophie finally pulls up in her car.
Sophie: Series 2 Lotus Elise. 1.8L 250HP, 6 speed manual.
Ry/Scarlet: Nice.
Sophie: So Ryoko what is the price of your car?
Ry: 4000$
Sophie: That is above budget.
Ry: The person I bought it from told me that it had lived a hard life a track car and has had an accident reported. Though after having it looked over properly and I have the documents too prove it he gave it too me for 2000$. I payed a little extra too have it looked over and added the needed safety equipment.
*Sophie reads the documents because she can*
Ry: And you Schar?
Scarlet: 1500$. And you Sophie?
Sophie: Eh.... 1250$.
After Sophie re-reads the documents everyone is called too the drivers meeting. Here the points system used is explained and who is in what class. Ryoko is in the Super Modified Class, Scarlet is in the 2L class and Sophie is in the Lightweight class. Ryoko is first up.
Ryoko: Well.... here we go.
Scarlet and Sophie watch as the grid is set up, with Ryoko starting last.
Sophie: Well yes each of us are professional racecar drivers, i'll admit the Ryoko is a far better driver then I am.
Scarlet: Well duh. She is a champion with a lot more wins too boot. But I consider this a great equalizer. We have never done this before. So it is up in the air as too who will do the best.
The race starts and Ryoko makes up a few places. With the dirt sections being rather bumpy contact happens but normally in rallycross. On tarmac Ryoko is fast but in the tight hairpin she is slower (due too 4WD cars having a tendency too understeer). She makes due and adapts her driving too help compensate and finishes 3rd. She pulls into the pits and Scarlet and Sophie greet her.
Scarlet: So?
Ry: Damn fun.
Sophie: Really?
Ry: You damn right.
They are glad the Ryoko had so much fun but it is now Scarlets turn. Like Ryoko she starts from the rear.
Scarlet: Well viewers the car I drove in WRA was a 4WD car but this is FWD.
The race starts with plenty of contact between the racers. With only 3 laps too get what you can get it is an "excuse" for Scarlet too use the chrome horn.
Scarlet: Out the way Peasants!!!
*bump, bump, bang*
Scarlet: Ha!!!!
Scarlet bulldozes her way too the lead.
Ry: And for the first time in her life, Schar is leading something.
Sophie: Something so rare the gods themselves are in awe.
*Meanwhile*
Scarlet: They probably making fun me for not ever leading something. Fuck them, I'll win this bitch!
Scarlet does just that. Winning running away leaving Sophie and Ryoko in awe. She pulls into the pits and proceeds too be a poor winner.
Scarlet: LOSERS!!!!!!! Both of you!!!! Sophie hasn't raced yet but so what!! LOSERS!!!!!!!!
Ry: Weiss you'd better....
Sophie: I'll get my helmet.
Sophie is the last one too race. She rolls onto the grid with the other drivers in her class. The race starts out well. But Sophie is being too smooth and quickly falls behind.
Scarlet: *Uncontrollable laughter*
Ry: Jesus Weiss you slow ass.
Sophie: Erm… okay then. Better pick it up.
Sophie picks up her pace and passes a few cars but runs out of time and finished 4th. When she enters the pits Scarlet is too the point of tears from laughing so hard, while Ryoko wishes too commit murder on her.
Sophie: Well... that didn't go well.
Ry: You fucking asshole! Now deal with her and her endless showboating!!!
*Scarlet is too busy roflcoptering*
After a brief break Scarlet is up again and wins again. Is much more a pleasant winner this time around. Ryoko improves too 2nd in her race and Weiss finishes 3rd in hers. The next race is a setup for the finals. The field is narrowed by the total points gained in the previous 2 races. Which means the competition is tougher. Scarlets race is much more competitive.
Scarlet: Well... looks like someone finally has some balls too race with me. Bring it!!!
The racer and Scarlet exchange the #1 spot (and some paint). She finishes a close 2nd.
Scarlet: Well.... I can't really complain about it. We didn't take each other out and ours cars aren't worse for wear.
Ry: She is taking it surprisingly well.
Sophie: She knows she was beat far and square.
Sophie is next and improves too 2nd (after a spin due too hard racing right at the start of the race). Ryoko again finishes 2nd. The organizers tally up the points and set up the finals. In a interesting twist Scarlet and Sophie are racing against each other. This will be the first time ever that they will.
Ry: Well viewers. "Red and White" will race for something. Now when it comes too the final lap and one is in front of the other will that person be moved? Stay tuned.
The cars are rolled out on the grid and Scarlet and Sophie are rather quiet. The producers ask them too say something/anything. They really don't want too at all but Sophie lets out something...
Sophie: We have always done things together, competed against one another. But this time..... this time is serious. Dare I say it is matter of pride between us. I maybe a better driver then Scarlet but Scarlet wants this. She is more prideful then I am.
Scarlet then shown taking a deep breath as she puts her car in gear. Scarlet and Sophie are starting shotgun too the field. When the green flag flies everyone takes off. Scarlet jets out too an early lead but with 6 laps there is plenty of time too catch and pass her. Sophie takes too 2 laps too clear the pack and start her chase after Scarlet.
Ry: Come on you two!!!
Scarlet as the edge in the corners however Sophie is able too get closer on the straights. Sophie finally catches Scarlet with 2 laps too go. Sophie keeps in clean for the most part however coming too the white flag out of the North Bend Sophie is on the outside of Scarlet, she forces Sophie wide into the grass. Sophie lifts, losing her momentum. She quickly recovers.
Sophie: She is giving me no choice!!!
Sophie does catch back up but waits until the North Bend turn again too make her move (and not too give Scarlet a chance too get her back.) Going into the North Bend Scarlet defends the inside but Sophie Follows her. Sophie gives Scarlet a rather firm "Chrome Horn", moving her out of the way. After that Sophie attempts too gas it out of the corner however the rear of her car steps out, Sophie lifts for just a second but Scarlet recovers and does the same. Here Scarlet FWD car helps get her out of the corner much better shape. By the time they exit North Bend Scarlet still leads with Sophie right on her right rear quarter panel by the time they get too final small dirt section before the start finish line Sophie is at Scarlets door. It is drag race too the checkered flag. However right at the start finish line there is chicane with big curbs on the inside of each small bend. Sophie full well knows that they will both make the small left bend she herself will not make the small right one. Sophie swings out as far as she can without getting on the grass away from Scarlet too get the best angle she can. Scarlet refuses too lift as they enter the small chicane, hitting the inside curb. Sophie lifts ever so slightly too take the bend. It is enough however for both of them too make the corners but Scarlet cross the line first, Sophie less then one car length behind her.
Sophie: Damn it!!!!
On the cool down lap Scarlets onboard camera catches a rare burst emotion from her. Not yelling just tears, happy ones. The moment is almost too much for her as she wipes away her tears. It is the first win of a major event in her racing career. She never won a race during her time WRA. And she had too beat Sophie too do it... the one person from their time together at the Drexlar Institute and whome she is closest with. Sophie pulls up along side and giver her a thumbs up, which Scarlet returns. In the pit area, Scarlet and Sophie share a hug. Scarlet walks away too collect herself and Sophie stays by her cars, pandering what she would have done differently.
Ry: I think i'll leave them alone. Got too prepare myself for my final.
Ryoko ends up winning her final. Trophies are given out too the winners. The rest of the film is pictures of the winners and others racers. Back at the studio the audience erupts in cheers and applause. Most is for Scarlet however, with Scarlet nodding in thanks. She gets emotional again.
Sophie: You okay?
Scarlet: Just..... *sniffle* fond memories. And thank you everyone.
Sophie: Well I will admit.... racing on a budget is fun. We still have our cars actually. Ryoko sold hers off for charity over in England. Fetched a pretty penny.
Scarlet: See? Told you so.
Sophie: Yeah you were right. There are leagues out there for those who wish too race on a budget. So go out there and race!
Scarlet: See you on the next show, Good-bye everyone!!!
