Yuna and Kai have taken a few days off from Ben-to brawling too tend too school activities. Their singing club, Kais golf club and a few more clubs they attend too. During the night they enter a shop too grab somethings (they pool their money too get more stuff). At the market Kai sees (Yuna senses) a ben-to brawl is about too start.
Kai: A brawl is about too start.... want too join?
Yuna: Not tonight. Lets just get our stuff and go.
Kai: Okay.
They get their stuff and enter the check-out. The brawl starts right after words. Kai ignores it but Yuna is drawn too the sounds. Too her at least it sounds different, feels different.
Kai: Something bothering you?
Yuna: No... i'm fine.
They exit the market and head for home. The next day they met up with Shaga, Sen, Yo and Hana for some time too hang out. Yuna is busy typing away on her laptop.
Yo: Haven't seen you guys in a while. Everything alright?
Kai: Yep. Just dealing some clubs we are apart of. You'll see us again.
Sen: Good.
Shaga: Still owe you one Yuna.
Yuna: One day Beauty By The Lake.... one day.
Kai: Hope you guys have done well yourselves.
Hana: Yep.
Kai: Good.
Hana notes that Yuna is usually more chatty but she focused on the laptop. But she remembers what she said. After they are done Hana quickly talks too Yuna.
Hana: Yuna?
Yuna: I felt it Hana....
Hana: Felt what?
Yuna: The test...… that is what I felt. At the market yesterday. The time is coming for me.
Yuna quickly walks away. The next day Yuna by herself walks too a local market near her apartment. The workers ask her if she needs help but she declines (they always ask her since she is regular there). She gets none food items for herself. But much like most markets at night, ben-to brawl happens. Like last time what she hears is different and what she feels is different. The brawl has already started so she can't enter it. From the commotion the people who are cracking skulls and kicking ass are very strong individuals.
Yuna: (Too bad I can't see who they are.)
As Yuna exits the people were part of the brawl exit with her. Appearently enjoying the spoils of victory.
"They were stronger then the last group."
"Yeah but still not strong enough."
"That tone in you voice.... you enjoy humiliating people don't you?"
"I'm just placing a basket over their head."
Yuna stops in her tracks. A feeling overcomes her.
Yuna: (That.... is them.)
The pair exiting stop too turn too Yuna.
"Is something wrong?"
"Yeah."
Yuna doesn't say anything. What she feels in her bones overcomes her. One of the pair inspects her, seeing if she is okay. Waving her hand front of her face. Yuna snaps out of it and grabs the persons hand.
Yuna: Stop that please. Just because i'm blind doesn't mean i'm helpless.
Yuna releases the persons hand and they apologize for annoying her.
Yuna: You weren't annoying me. thank you for checking on me though. Sometimes I zone out.
"Oh you are welcome."
Yuna: May I ask your names?
"Kyou Sawagi. i'm the oldest sister.
"Kyou Sawagi. i'm the youngest sister. We have the same name so it can't get confusing. We also look different but since you are....
Yuna: I can tell the different in your voices and your personalities. The youngest is the more mature one. While the oldest is well..... not so much.
Sawagi 1: Hey don't be mean!
Sawagi 2: She speaks the truth.
Yuna: You fight over ben-to. Just like Kai does. Maybe i'll see you in one.
Sawagi 1: You fight over ben-to? even though you are blind?
Yuna: You will see....
Yuna walks away as fast as she can, leaving the Sawagi sisters behind. The next day she meets up with Hana at the local café. Whenever Yuna isn't with Kai, she hangs out Hana. Since they both help each other with homework.
Yuna: Say Hana....
Hana: Yeah?
Yuna: Does the names Kyou Sawagi means anything too you?
Hana stops typing and stares at Yuna.
Yuna: Well your silence says it all.
Hana: They are Orthrus. A powerful teams of Ben-to brawlers. Yeah on their own they respectable but as team.....
Yuna: they are my test.
Hana: What?
Yuna: They are my test Hana.
Hana: Have you lost your mind!?
Yuna: It is only after a ben-to Hana. Not for sport.
Hana: But still....
Yuna: When the times comes I will challenge them. My mind is made up.
For the next week Yuna and Orthrus are in close contact at markets and stores but doesn't fight over Ben-to. It is as if they are both waiting for the right time too fight over Ben-to. However the time soon comes. At a Super Market (one of the most popular markets in town) Yo, Shaga, Sen and Hana join Kai and Yuna at the market. The place is full of brawlers.
Kai: Full house tonight.
Yo: Yep.
Hana: We will have our work cut out for us.
Behind them Orthrus walks into the Market. Everyone takes notice as they go too where the God Discounts is places the half priced seals on the Ben-to. Yuna asks Kai what Ben-tos are there. Kai gives off the names of those there. One catches her off guard.
Yuna: (That is the one my grandma wanted).
When the God of discounts exits stage right, all hell breaks loose. Hana is the first too get a Ben-to. her usually strategy of "rope a dope" works and exits too buy her Ben-to. Sato, Sen and Shaga too work their way through the crowd. "Survival of the Fittest" kicks in and they all go end too head against each other. Yuna separates from Kai but it isn't something strange. Kai is more then confident in Yunas abilities too fight and take care of herself. However she is only moving people out of her way so it is just her and Orthrus. Shaga gets free from Sato and Sen and claims her Ben-to. Sato and Sen then face off, in the past Sato would lose too Sen but tonight is different. He beats her for the first time and claims his Ben-to. Just as Sen recovers the brawl comes too halt as the brawlers notice Yuna and Orthrus in a tense stare down.
Kai: What the hell is she doing?
*Kai rushes over too Yuna*
Kai: You can't be serious....
Yuna: I am.
Kai: Do you know who they are!?
Yuna: Of course I do.
Kai: I'm helping you!
Yuna: You already have a Ben-to Kai. And you yourself hold the rules and guidelines in high regard.
Kai does indeed have a ben-to. He with great hesitation stands aside and lets Yuna do battle with Orthrus. Before they fight over their Ben-to, a brawler states they will smother her in darkness. Yuna replies with "I'm not scared of the dark. I've never seen fear either...… "Be fearless.""
Yuna throws away her sunglass and readies herself. The battle is fierce and brutal with Yuna getting knocked down many times but also sharing in the knocking down. But in the end Yuna gets her Ben-to but collapses afterword. She is taken too the hospital. While at the hospital Kai gets a chance too look at the Ben-to Yuna wanted.
Kai: Deep Fried Shrimp Ben-to....
*Kai recalls Yuna saying her Grandma loved sea food.*
Kai: Was.... was this the Ben-to they shared before she past away?
The doctor enters the waiting room and tells Kai that other then bruises Yuna will be fine but will kept over night of observation. Kai asks too see her, the doctor grants him his request but asks too make it fast since visiting hours our almost up. Kai enters her room and sits down next too her bed.
Yuna: Hey....
Kai: Is this the Ben-to you and your Grandma had?
Yuna: Yes... it is. Kai?
Kai: Yeah?
Kai: Will you share it with me?
Kai doesn't know what too say. Nothing in the rules prevents him from sharing it with her (even though he already ate his). Without saying a word he opens the Ben-to (after warming it up by sneaking into the break room) and shares it with her. It is in this moment that something inside the both of them changes. The next day Kai and Yuna are at school, while the Ben-to world is a buzz with the fight Yuna and Orthrus. Most people now dismiss her old nickname "Radar" now she even those low in status call Yuna "The Lioness." For her display of heart and courage in the face of a powerful foe.
