In the year 2020 a group of investors came together too form a racing series. Unlike most racing series of the time which were spec in nature, wanted a series too have strict (but workable) rules and with limits on testing, driver aids and costs. The investors try too find rules and regulations too get the series going. They decided on the old Group A regulations without the homologation rules. They all realized that Touring and Rally cars uses these rules too great effect.
However cars from that era are rare and the auto manus are not too keen on letting them be driven. So they come up with 2 ideas. Kit cars or build plants too build the cars. They decided on Kit cars. Kit cars by this time where slowly growing in popularity. So they contacted some Kit Car makers from the United States, Germany, Britain and Italy. Not every company agreed but a few did from each country. The investors managed too get the specs of every touring car raced during the Group A era and ordered them built.
After 6-8 months the cars were ready for testing. They hired a variety of drivers too test them at a variety of tracks. Everyone involved where very happy with the results of the testing. However they know they had too increase of the class sizes so they looked at more form Group classes. They added Group N regulations and had more kits cars built as a result. Testing of those cars starts after they were built with more then expect results.
By 2022 the "World Racing Allience" had yet too run an actual race but continued too put in more past racing classes into the rotation. GT cars, Group B cars and more past racing classes. The WRA purposefully tried too avoid prototype cars that had no resemblance too street cars of the past. The next year they felt they had enough classes too run but needed too find a format and season length. They decided on a universal 20 race season with 2 races at 1 track. With the first race being a sprint race with 1 optional pit stop and the 2nd being twice the original race 1 length with 2 mandatory pit stops. The next step was too find tracks host said races. The WRA realized the each different class had too have different length of tracks. The Touring Cars would run shorter tracks or shorter versions of the longer tracks. While the Grand Tour cars would run longer tracks.
The next year they began talks with tracks the world over. Some of the tracks wanted high sanctioning fees, while some were more forgiving. The WRA wouldn't race until every class had a 20 race season. And in 2025 they would get each class a 20 race season and the classes are as follows
Group B Championship
Group A Championship
Group A FWD Championship
Group A RWD Championship
Group N Championship
Retro-DTM Championship
GT3 Championship
GT2 Championship
GT1 Championship
Group A Touring Car Championship
Super Touring Championship
Each category had its own rules that were strictly enforced. No driver aids at all, minimal aero parts, limited horsepower (with wiggle room), manual gearboxes and safety equipment of the highest quality were the mandatory parts. As seasons went on the WRA would relax some of the rules on set-ups too allow more freedom.
How cars would be entered was considered by many too be a stroke of genius. Teams would buy the cars (if racing a full season) or lease them (for running part time). Also too help car counts some cars could be entered into another category. A Group A car could race a RWD or FWD championship (since all Group A cars were 4WD) once it was changed too met the championships rules. Drivers could also race in any championship but had too declare for points too eligible too win it.
Notable drivers:
Ryoko Kenichi: After Ryoko would finish her travels across America and long before she would run for President. Ryoko entered the WRA in the Group A and GT3 championships. She had successful run in both (ran Group A first then GT3). Finished 2nd in Group A but won the GT3 championship. She would then race around the world in a variety of events until declaring her run for the Presidency of the United States.
Scharlachrot (Scarlet): She would race in the Group N category. Had a few good races but mostly struggled. Retired from racing after just one year. Would then start the automotive show "Overdrive" with Sophie.
Sophie (Weiss): She too would race in the WRA in Group A Touring Cars. She did much better then Scarlet but only finished on the podium once. Though the race she finish on the podium was considered too be one the best races in WRA history. This would be too her only season of racing. She would join Scarlet on "Overdrive."
By the time of Ryokos run at the Presidency the WRA was the most popular motorsport in the world. Drivers from all over the world joined and raced at some point. WRA is destined too be around for the future.
