Arcana Heart Fanfiction #36: The first Review (Prelude too Overdrive) (10-15 years into the future)

The very first car review by Scarlet was after her time in WRA (and after her time in a heavy metal band). Still in her early 20's, she toke Ryokos advice and toke classes in journalism. After completing her degree (online and campus courses) Scarlet would get a interview with a car website...

"So you have all the credentials needed for a job here..."
Scarlet: Okay.
"But... I need something more...."
Scarlet: Um.... what?
"I need too know how YOU would review a car. I need too see your style on video."
Scarlet: If that I what I have too do then fine."
"It really doesn't matter what car you use for your review. And you will have too use a camera crew. Got too make it look Professional."
Scarlet: Alright...
"Do that and it is good enough... the job is yours."
*Scarlet leaves interview room*
Scarlet: (I have got too make some calls.)

Scarlet has limited contacts for help but calls Maori on a whim and Maori happily agrees too help her. With Maori being an artist and all gets a hold of a professional camera and editing crew...

Scarlet: Thank you so much for doing this.
Maori: *happy* No problem. Always happy too help you and Weiss out.
Scarlet: You footing the bill for this?
Maori: Yep. No worries on time either.
Scarlet: He didn't give me a time limit but better do this within a week or so.

The place where they are filming is in Japan in the mountains. The Cherry Blossom trees are in full bloom and every so colorful. Maori picked out this spot because of the contrast between the pink of the trees and black paint against Scarlets Truck. "Making it stand out" Maori says, Scarlet goes along with it. Scarlet makes a few notes of what she wants too say and highlight points both positive and negative. Maori motions everyone too get ready and..... "Action."

Scarlet: Hello everyone, I am Scarlet or Red if you will. A few of you may remember me from the World Racing Alliance Group N Category that really didn't go very well.... anyway it is time for me too review this truck.

The camera slowly pans around the truck, Cherry Blossom trees reflecting off the jet black paint, the chrome rims. As well as the blue sky and the sun.

Scarlet: You see this? *Points too a badge on fender* H-E-M-I. I do realize some young person out there is thinking "What does HEMI mean?" Well is short hand for Hemispherical Combustion Chamber. Now a days it is just a name, true HEMI engines died in the 1970's. The engine in this is based on the same principle... just modernized. 5.7 Liters at 390HP when off the production line. It has over 175,000 miles on it with the same engine. Since this is my personal truck I have had things done too it over time since I got it from the original owner, whom I will reveal at the end of this review. Body and chassis are all still original. Somethings aren't like rims, bumpers and other things.

The camera continues too slowly pan around with Scarlet continue too give a monologue.

Scarlet: It looks fantastic, unlike what they look like now. The lines are simpler, smoother, flowing. Very pleasing too the eyes. The old hood scopes where fake but I had these ones custom. Does help with cooling.

The camera cuts too the rear exhaust, Scarlet starts it up and 5.7 roars too life. With a low grizzly rumble.

Scarlet: Not a bad soundtrack eh? Exhaust isn't factory stock but close too it. It breathes better and helps with emissions.
*She enters the cab of the truck*
Scarlet: Seats 4 people in comfort. Being high off the ground you get a good view of what is around you. Blind spots are an issue but it has blind spot monitoring. Unlike modern cars this has analog gauges with some digital thrown it, mostly too show what gear it is in, driver aids are active and weither it is in 4WD or 2WD. This truck used too be in the Southeast United States so it experienced a lot of sun and weathering. The interior has been stripped out and redone as has the paint. It is basically like the day it rolls of the production line. About a Tuseday afternoon drive eh?

Scarlet takes off and drives through the mountain roads. Maori gets a helicopter for aerial shots.

Scarlet: Now the first thing too notice is the foot print this thing has. It takes up a lot of space on the road. Here in the mountains it isn't so bad in the city..... tricky is putting it lightly. The ride if very comfortable and smooth. Japan doesn't have much in the way of back roads that are bumpy so testing the off-road capabilities is difficult. Despite this thing being a tanker ship on wheels it handles very well. It doesn't roll around and isn't lazy.

Scarlet takes some corners faster then needed. Tires squeal in protest but Scarlet and the truck remain firmly planted on the road. She tests the brakes (by going at 80mph).

Scarlet: Stops well too. *gets rolling again* Doesn't help that the previous owner stiffened the anti-roll bars and put on bigger and better brakes. The only way too stop faster is too hit a wall. Not that I would try it. Even I though I have... it isn't fun.

Scarlet plants her right foot and 5.7 roars too life and pulls down Scarlet down the road. Again she gets too 80mph before slowing down too the speed limit.

Scarlet: Yes it is not fast. But it wasn't designed too be. Carry and haul stuff is what this was originally designed too do. And on front it does do well however....

The next scene is of Scarlet at a petrol station filling the truck up. As the gallons go up so does the money.

Scarlet: Gas Mileage is terrible..... it can go too a 4 cylinder on the highway which does help and I have had interior, exhaust, suspension and some others replaced with lighter yet stronger ones. Still sucks though.... doesn't help that it has the aerodynamics of a bus.

The next scene is of Scarlet standing next too truck the back at the same spot at the beginning of the film.

Scarlet: Big, bulky, loud, comfortable, almost unlivable in Japan.... but I love it anyway. Oh and here is the person I got it from...* camera cuts too Ryoko waving at the camera for a few second then cuts back too Scarlet* Yep.... used too belong too Ryoko Kenichi. Gave it too me for my 20th birthday. I have had it ever since. Oh and I should said at the very start that it is a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. Ryoko has her own custom job from Chrysler before they discontinued it. I hope you enjoyed this review of my personal truck. Thank you for watching.

After editing and other fixes Scarlet takes her tape back the car website. Her interviewer would look it over and at the end of it....

"You have the job but..."
Scarlet: (FUCK YA!!!!!!!) Huh what?
"I am going too give you a choice."
Scarlet: Okay...
"Either be a writer for our website.... or host a show we have in the works."
Scarlet: A show....
"Ever hear of Top Gear or The Grand Tour?"
Scarlet: Yeah... a little.
"We have something similar in mind too bring back. But we only want 2 hosts instead of 3 and less controversial comedy. Mostly business and factual presentation."
Scarlet: Okay. I am onboard with that.
"Good. But I need a second presenter."
Scarlet: I got someone in mind. Just have too wait until her WRA season is over.

Once Weiss finished her WRA season, Scarlet would contact her and ask. Weiss would be more then happy too join her. After getting certain aspects thought out and put in place....

Scarlet: Hello and welcome too Overdrive. I am Scarlet.
Weiss: And I am Sophie.
