Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain XBOX One review

This is last game in the Metal Gear series that Hideo Kojima was at the helm of. Likes most of the games it had high expectations but did it live up too the hype? Well i'd so and here is my review of it.

Plot: I'll just post a link since the game is damn long that it'll take forever. The whole damn plot

Graphics: Oh My God... this game is damn pretty. The Fox Engine really shines. The draw distance is great. You can see 1000s of meters. In Afghanistan you can see the heat raising up from the ground. It is just damn pretty too look at.

Gameplay: Like all MSG games, it is about going through a mission without being seen at all. You do have non-lethal means but it is wise too not leave too many bodies around. You also have uniforms too wear too help you blend in too your surroundings. You can also hide from enemy sight by 'taking cover' or going prone in thick grass. If anything this game gives you options up the @$$ on how too play. It is a sort of open world game but the areas are just vast.
You also have the option too use a buddy. Each buddy helps in a certain way.

D-Horse: Increases your speed and mobility. Letting you ride around quicker and quieter then using a vehicle.

D-Dog: Lets you spot enemies from a distance without having too tag them. Lets you plan your movement. He can also distract and attack with lethal and non-lethal means depending on what gear you give him.

Quiet: Silent, sniper and recon. Quiet can be sent out ahead of you and recon an outpost or base. She will mark things of interest and then find a spot and wait for you too give her an order. She snipe with either non-lethal or lethal means.

D-Walker: A robot that can be given many weapons too adapt too most situations. Also moves fast as well and can hide in plain site with Stealth Camo.

Minus D-Walker, every buddy has a bond meter. the more you use them the higher the bond gets. Higher bond level get more specials when used on missions.

Mother Base: Like MSG: Peace Walker, you have access too Mother Base. Here you can make it bigger (making more room for recruits too join and keep) and allow support while on a mission.

There are 6 sections too Mother Base.

Command Strut: 4 struts in total. Where Command functions are housed. Also increase holding capacity of all other struts on Mother Base.

Medical Strut: When your troops come home after a mission they maybe are wounded or suffering from PTSD. Or while on Mother Base they get sick and need treatment. Higher the level of the staff on here, the faster they heal and get ready for missions.

R&D Strut: Here is where items and weapons are developed. Give the order and staff will develop what you order. Higher the level the better weapons and items will be developed.

Base Development strut: Here materials are gathered and processed. As well as food, ammo, plants and other materials. This also helps development Mother Base as well.

Support Strut: Here people of Mother Base support you while in the field. The higher the level, the fast and more accurate it will happen. Also helps with extracting soldiers too. Higher the level, the more successful extractions will become.

Intel Strut: Here is where all intel is gathered and processed. While out in the field you'll be info on enemy locations, plants, vehicles and objectives. Also help predict weather too.

There are two other struts, one is Animal conservation strut too hose animals retrieved while in the field. Getting paid along the way. The is a place where only the very sick are held. Both can visited via copter and are away from Mother Base. Each strut on Mother Base can have 3 more added too the original so Mother Base can get rather large when it is finish. You can explore Mother Base too.

Voice Acting and Characters: One of the highlights of this is game is the voice acting. Holy shit is it good.

Venom Snake: Big Bosses body double. Voice by Kiefer Sutherland. My God does Sutherland nail the role. Yeah he doesn't speak much but when he does he just nails the role beautifully. Perfect setup for Solid Snake from Big Boss.

Kazuhira Miller: Diamond Dogs XO. Voiced by Robin Atkins Downes. Kaz as Snake calls him was in Peace Walker, also voiced by Downes. Kaz helps Snake rebuild Mother Base too get back at their enemy.

Ocelot: Diamond Dogs technical trainer and works for the GRU. Voiced by Troy Baker. Helps Snake when he can and plays a role at Mother Base, again when he can.

Quiet: The Silent assassin. Voiced by Stefanie Joosten. A very complex character that plays an important role in the story. As previously mentioned she can be taken on missions.

Code Talker: An old man who is smart and has special powers. Voiced by Jay Tavare. Code Talker is a Navajo Indian and speaks his language in the game. He can join Mother Base too help you out.

Huey Emmerich: Another character from Peace Walker. Huey works on bi-pedal weapons. Voiced by Christopher Randolph. Huey isn't what he seems and is a coward.

Eli: A young boy leading a group of child solider in Africa. Voiced by Piers Stubbs. He is looking for his father and thinks Venom is his father.

Skull Face: The leader of XOF. Voiced by James Horan. He has plans for world domination and destroying Cipher.
^That is all the major characters of the game.

Weapons: lets just say there are a crap load of weapons in this game. Many have upgrades paths too follow. Both lethal and non-lethal. There are no real world weapons in this game but they are based off of real world weapons. The weapons also feature bullet drop like in real life. Once outside a weapons true effective range you must start too compensate for bullet drop.

Verdict: This game is amazing. No other word too tell anyone who good it is. But.... it does feel unfinished. Kojima and Konimi split was horrible for Kojima-sensei. But he did the best he could, despite the fact the game is unfinished. But the finished product is amazing. The game gets a A+ from me.
