Scarlet and Sophies "Overdrive" came about after Scharlachrot mailed in a tape of her reviewing Ryoko 2014 Dodge Ram Pickup. The person reviewing it asked her too come and visit him. He was impressed with her knowledge and skill behind the wheel (and the fact that Ryoko appeared in her review). Here Schar would reveal that she has racing experience (though retired). Schar would be given 2 options, become what she studied for or help launch an automotive entertainment show. Schar chose option 2 but with a catch. She wanted Weiss (Sophie) too join her. With no complaints Weiss got the call and joined her. Their first episode featured the most modern cars of the time. However the episode is most known Schar and Weiss immense dislike for the cars, calling them "soulless" "garbage" and "shit." The episode was a hit however despite all the negative things said. The producer asked the duo what would improve the show. Schar and Weiss said "No shit cars." From then one they had a bunch of different cars from many different makes and eras.
(The following episode of "Overdrive" takes place between 15 and 20 years into the feature fanfictions. There HQ is in Rosamond California at Willow Springs International Raceway.)
Scar: Hello and welcome too Overdrive. I'm Scarlet
Sophie: I'm Sophie.
Scar: You know Sophie we have driven many types of cars over the course of our 2 seasons.
Sophie: Indeed, some brilliant, some boarder line brilliant and some well..... not worth mentioning.
Scar: But there are some we haven't driven.
Sophie: And?
Scar: American cars.
Sophie: Ah..... Too bad they don't make them like they used too.
Scar: So?
Sophie: So what?
Scar: Blasts from the past Sophie. Yes the last American performance cars built only 8 years ago but it doesn't mean we can't go back further.
Sophie: Count me in.
Scar: It will be loud, brash and totally unsophisticated.
Sophie: Like you right? *snicker*
Scar: Uh-huh. At least they will not be boring and quiet like you are.
Sophie: Hey!
Scar: On too the film!
*The film starts out with a panoramic view of the race track with J.S. Bachs "Air" with a lovely sun raise in the back ground. Sophie is then shown driving around the track in a late 1950's Cadillac.*
Sophie: Yes this isn't loud. But in todays times it is brash and unsophisticated. This is A LOT of car with lots of shiny bits. And it doesn't meet emissions regs but so the hell what. It is a big slice of America and its past. Even today the styling is perfect. Cars like these have a cult following. Not for the fact that it gets roughly under 10 miles too the gallon or lack of air bags or seat belts. Just look at it. From a time when things were simple and the car world was growing. Cars need too back too this era. Simpler is better.
*Sophie puttees around the track, moments later a loud engine is heard as well as screeching tires. Scarlet pulls up in Ryokos Dodge Charger (donated too the show).*
Scar: Get the hell out of the way Sophie! Time for brute force too take over! *takes off*
Sophie: Savage.
Scar: Now this is what i'm talking about. From the mid-1960's too the early 1970's America had an arms race. Who could cram the most power under the hood and go from 0 too 60 the fastest. Handling was an afterthought. Just raw POWERRRRRRRRR!!!!!
The Dodge isn't meant too take corners at high speed, so Scarlet just brute forces her way through the corners lighting up the tires and going slideways.
Scar: This was an awesome time too be a gear head. Auto makers were sending out great cars with options 6 ways too Sunday. Most were factory options. And cars where still built simple but power went through the roof. Simply awesome.
*Scarlet slows down*
Scar: Cars of this era were still big and bulky. But auto makers instilled a generation with a passion that lasted for a long time. Now a days it is just dull and boring. Cars like this and Sophies had character and their own personality. It was fun. And cars like this and Sophies were before regulations toke over and it hurt for a while.
*Sophie pulls up in a late 80's/early 90's C4 Corvette*
Sophie: Stop being so depressed! Times got better and more modern! *takes off*
Scar: *leer* Two can play that game Sophie.
Sophie: Yes for a time it did suck too own a car. With the oil crisis, emission regs and 'saving the planet' came at the cost of performance and fun. But here with what I have. It came back. I have at my behest is 5.7L 390hp with a 6 speed manual. Big grippy tires, modern styling and a great soundtrack. And this thing weighs 3200lbs. It isn't perfect but it is a MASSIVE improvement of over what came out. While yes cars were becoming more electronic but still doesn't take away from the driving experience.
*Sophie increases her speed. Pushing the Vette but on cue here comes Scarlet in the Late 90's Fourth Gen Ford Mustang (with the biggest engine and a manual gearbox).*
Sophie: I sense a race.
Scar: As do I.
Sophie: Loser drives the "death trap."
Scar: Deal.
They race around the track. Sophie is in a car much more suited too the task. Scarlet has the speed too keep up but not the handling. Scarlet loses, though she isn't upset at all.
Scar: Well time too 'die' I guess.
*Scarlet steps in too a 2007 Dodge Viper (the best one can get). Starts it up and takes off.*
Scar: Oh yeeeeeees. This thing is better then that plastic pocket rocket Sophie had. Some Auto Makes decided NOT too included things likes Traction Control or Stability Control. Gets lots of grip those big tires. But poke the bear.... erm Viper then it WILL kill you.
*Scarlet pushes the Viper but quickly finds out that it does bite. But she fights it at her own peril.*
Scar: I love living dangerously. The viper does tooooooooooo.
*She spins out*
Scar: whoops...... not really. heheh,
Scarlet continues goofing off. Until she stops on the start/finish next too Sophie.
Sophie: You've never grown up.
Scar: So? heheh.
Sophie: *sigh* I have too say that these cars are fun as hell too drive and too get too know.
Scar: Told you so. But we aren't done yet.
Sophie: Oh?
Scar: Got 2 more.
Scarlet and Sophie walk too pit road into the garage. What awaits them are 2 cars.
Scar: Pick one.
Sophie: You first.
Scar: That one.
Sophie: Fine.
The cars aren't shown on screen. But in the next shot Sophie is driving a 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. The last Viper ever made. And Scarlet is driving a Hennessey Venom.
Sophie: *surprise* Oh my!
Scarlet: Hell Yeah!!!!
Sophie is amazed by the Vipers overall grip and composure. While Scarlet is drunk on horsepower.
Sophie: This thing is.... composed. Stable. And it has a 6 speed gearbox? What madness is this!? It dances on its toes like a ballerina!
Scar: Yes it turns for shit and it has a hard time stopping. But so the fuck what!!! It has speeeeeeeeeeeeeed and powerrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
The rest of the film is them just having a grand ole time with "Air" playing in the background and then fades too black. They return too the studio with cheers and applause from the live audience in attendance.
Scar: So Sophie... what do you think?
Sophie: I'm sold on American cars. So much so I bought one.
Scar: Which one?
Sophie: The one i'm sitting on. (She is sitting on the Viper ACR)
Scar: Your serious.
Sophie: Yep. All mine.
Scar: What about the car Ryoko gave you?
Sophie: It will stay here. Safest place for it.
Scar: Oooookay.
Sophie: Well that is all the time we have for this episode. Hope it was loud, brash and total unsophisticated for you.
Scar: Sophie wait a second....
Sophie: See you next time!!!
