Arcana Heart Fanfiction #2: Biscuits and Gravy "Soul Food

This made me hungry while doing it. Hope no one else falls too the same fate. :-P

(featuring Heart Aino and Saki Tsuzaru)

*Ryoko is driving too a local market too pick up some groceries. After done shopping, she takes a brief walk around. A sudden stomach growl makes her look for something too eat. She comes across cafe Aino (Heart made mention of it a lot) and steps inside too see what they have on the menu*
Hearts mother: Welcome. How may i help you?
Ryoko: I'm just looking right now. Give me a few minutes.
*Ryoko looks over the menu, not wanting something too sweet but filling she picks out her order and rings a bell on the desk for service.*
Heart: Ry-Ry!!!
Ryoko: Heart-Heart!
Heart: Why are you here?
Ryoko: Was shopping but i was hungry. Saw your shop, figured i'd get something.
Heart: What can i get you?
*Ryoko makes her purchase and takes a seat in the cafe. Heart takes break too chat with Ryoko*
Heart: How have you been Ry-Ry?
Ryoko: Great. On break from racing. So i have time too kill, got some shopping done.
Heart: What kind of shopping? Clothes?
Ryoko: No. Food for a dish from back home.
Heart: What kind of dish?
Ryoko: Biscuits and Gravy.
Saki: Biscuits and Gravy?
Ryoko: Oh Miss Saki.
Saki: Hello Ryoko.
Ryoko: Why are you here?
Heart: i'm helping Saki bake. She isn't very good at it.
Saki: *annoyed* Heart....
Ryoko: Help is help. Take it anyway you can get it Saki. It is how you grow.
Saki: What is this about Biscuits and Gravy?
Ryoko: Back home it is what is called "soul food." Not only does it fill your stomach but it fills your soul.
Heart/Saki: ???
Ryoko: I think a cooking lesson is in order. Tomorrow i shall show you how too make it.
Heart: I'd love too learn.
Saki: Count me in too.
Ryoko: Okay.
***********************The next day at Cafe Aino*************************************
Ryoko: You two ready?
Heart/Saki: Yes.
Ryoko: Okay, first too make the biscuits.
Saki: Baking? *sigh*
Ryoko:  Biscuits are easy Saki. My dad taught me a fool prove way of doing biscuits.
*Saki lets out another sigh and the girls begin making the biscuits. Mixing flour, eggs, baking powder, salt, pepper and Ryokos "secret" seasoning (that Heart and Saki are forced too leave the room so they do not see it. Much too their protest.)*
Ryoko: There. All done, let bake for 30 minutes.
Heart: Where does this food come from?
Ryoko: Southern US. I was born in the southern US. Grow up with this food.
Saki: You don't sound like someone from the southern US.
Ryoko: *Southern accent* Well i do declare myself a southern girl.
*Saki and Heart do not look impressed*
Ryoko: I was born in Athens, Georgia. I'm as southern as you can get. Though i moved out west too Arizona for racing reasons but i'm still a southern girl born and bread.
Heart: Okay Ry-Ry. Your a southern girl.
Saki: What about the gravy part?
Ryoko: My dad used sausage in his gravy. I use meat. Hamburger too be precise. I like my gravy silky smooth. I'm not doing this alone. You 2 are going too help me.
*Ryoko lets Saki cook the meat and lets Heart make the gravy. After that they combine the gravy and meat and let it thicken as well as season it.*
Ryoko: Biscuits will done in 5 minutes. Just need too wait.
Saki: Ryoko what is "soul food"?
Heart: Yeah, you made mention of it before.
Ryoko: "Soul food" is made with not only the ingredients but with love. If it is made with love, it fills with the person with love. Don't you cook with love Heart?
Heart: Yes. I cook with love. Especially sweets.
Ryoko: See Saki? That is soul food. It doesn't have too be food from the southern US, it can be any food.
Saki: I think i understand *smile*
*ding*
Ryoko: Biscuits are done.
*Ryoko takes the biscuits out of the ovan. The smell permeates through the kitchen. Saki and Heart coo and ah with wounder at the smell and the look of the biscuits. They are golden brown and fluffy. Ryoko opens the biscuits, steam emits from them. She then pours the thickened gravy over the biscuits, grabs some boiled collard greens and serves everyone.*
Everyone: Thank you for the meal.
*They dig in*
Heart: Amazing!
Saki: This is incredible.
Ryoko: I think i've converted you two. This is stick-too-your-ribs type of food. Everything is home made. It tastes better that way. May not be the best thing for you but who cares.
*Heart and Saki say nothing as they feed their faces.*
*********************************************Later*******************************
Saki: I can't eat anymore.
Heart: My stomach....... i think it'll explode.
Ryoko: I did say stick-too-your-ribs Heart. Probably should have added stomach-rupturing-mass.
*Heart lets out a groan and a burp.*
Saki: Heart! Your manners!
Heart: *Sad* I'm sorry Saki......... it feels better when i do. *burp*
Ryoko: Ah, lighten up Saki. We are in private. As long as you don't do it public Heart.
Heart: *happy* Nope! I do not Ry-Ry.
Saki: ...
Heart: I understand what you mean by Soul Food. I feel warm inside.
Ryoko: Feeds your stomach..... feeds your soul. It is what love does..... as well as food.
Saki: Soul Food.......... a comfort thing.
Ryoko: Right now..... i feel like i am home. My dad making me this on Sunday mornings. I hope you two will remember today.
Heart: I will! Wonderful food and a wonderful time with my best-est friends! Yay! *giggle*
Saki: *smile* As will i.
Ryoko: My job is done here. I'm going home...... too slumber. By the way, you guys will not eat for the rest of the day.
Heart: Ry-Ry promise you'll show us more of your favorite soul food!
Ryoko: It is a promise Heart.
Heart: Yay!!!
Saki: I too look forward too your teachings of your favorite foods.
Ryoko: See you guys later.
